The State of Tennessee has announced the purchase of property and
easements which will protect nearly 5,500 acres on Tennessee's
Cumberland Plateau. A $6 million, 3,000-acre Savage Gulf property will
be added this spring to the South Cumberland State Park and Natural
Area, which has a million annual visitors. The deal also includes more
than 2,400 acres that will preserve a portion of the South Cumberland's
Fiery Gizzard trail.
